Abstract
Furoic acid was prepd. on a mg. scale from ribonucleic acid (I) by hydrolysis of I with H2SO4 to form furfural which in turn was oxidized by AgO to form furoic acid (II). II has an absorption max. at 245 mu and a molar extinction of 11.1. Glycine labelled with Cl4 in the COOH group was used as precursor in the biological prepn. of I. II isolated from I shows a significant synthesis of ribonucleic acid-ribose from glycine. Keywords
