Abstract
An account is given of the ecology of the cliffs and scree-slopes at Markland Grips, a steep-sided valley in the Magnesian Limestone near Sheffield. Woody plants, and especially Taxus baccata, play a significant part in causing cliff recession. The status of Tilia platyphyllos is discussed, and it is concluded that there are strong reasons against regarding it as a native tree of the area. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
