Abstract
The energetic and nucleic analyses of A. vinelandii in a chemostatic culture in a steady state (balanced growth) were reported previously. The content of RNA was most sensitive to the specific growth rate of the cells used, while DNA and the so-called nucleotide pool remained intact irrespective of the values of the specific growth rate. The nucleic analyses of cells experiencing an un-steady state of a different nature realized by changing the value of the dilution rate stepwise from one level to another revealed that the response of cells to a new environment was rather rapid. Another steady and balanced state of cells was independent of the time when a new level of steady state in terms of cell and substrate concentrations became apparent. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
