Abstract
Of the streptococcus cultures from the blood of 32 patients with subacute bacterial endocarditis, 26 belonged to the S. viridans group; they showed no one form of colony. Of the 26 cultures, 22 showed signs of "roughness," either morphologically or colonially or both. The observations suggest that the rough element of streptococcus cultures may be an essential factor in the production of endocarditis. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
