Abstract
We propose a new mechanism for indirect exchange in highly dense 3He adsorbed layers. This antiferromagnetic coupling arises from virtual exchange of particles between the solid layer and the liquid. It should predominate by more than one order of magnitude over the various ferromagnetic mechanisms proposed in the literature. It accounts for the sign and the order of magnitude of the Curie-Weiss temperature recently observedKeywords
