Abstract
The structural origin of the resistivity anomaly occuring in the α phase of some rare-earth–hydrogen systems is elucidated in via a diffuse neutron-scattering experiment. The results give evidence of a peculiar linear ordering tendency where second-neighbor tetrahedral sites along the hexagonal c axis are occupied.
