Abstract
In low and high pressure sodium lamps many parameters influence the arc voltage. Ultimately, all these factors have their influence on the arc voltage through the vapor pressures of sodium, and sodium and mercury. This paper discusses methods that have been developed for the measurements of these pressures in burning lamps. Using these methods, the causes of changes in vapor pressure and the resulting rise of arc voltage can be identified, and appropriate measures can be taken. Keywords
