Abstract
Rummel asserts that his postulated relationship between nonfreedom and international conflict can be found in the Azar data set as well as his own data set, even though he finds severe fault with Azar's methods of conflict scaling. Evaluation of Rummel's arguments indicates that he does not understand the nature of the Azar data set construction and misinterprets multiple regression and Kendall's Tau B results. Extensive re-analysis further demonstrates a lack of relationship between nonfreedom and conflict in the Azar data set.
