Abstract
There are few medical diseases that have been studied as thoroughly as asthma. Nevertheless, it still represents an insoluble problem regarding its etiology. There is a laudable tendency in medicine to attempt to find one precise cause for each disease. In the case of asthma such endeavors have not only appeared fruitless but they have also led to confusion. Clinical experience shows that asthmatic attacks can be triggered off by a wide variety of stimuli, including, inter alia, organic disorders, allergies, chemicals, meteorological changes, and psychological conflicts.29
