Abstract
Adult alfalfa weevils, Hypera postica (Gyllenhall), stored in pint-size cartons in a refrigerator held at 32[degree]F showed a significantly lower mortality rate than those stored at 40[degree]F. A 2% sucrose solution was found superior to alfalfa as a storage food medium; those weevils which had no access to food showed very high mortality. Weekly changing of food was found to yield a higher survival rate than monthly. There was a higher percentage mortality within the group stored at 500/carton than in the one which held 1000/carton.
