A case of persimmon phytobezoar is reported. There is also a discussion of the physiological chemistry involved. Differential diagnostic points are discussed, the main points being the history of ingestion of persimmons and the finding of a translucent, moveable mass in the stomach. Complications and treatment are discussed. Most complications consist of peptic ulcer and its complications. Treatment is surgical removal. Keywords
