The Utilization of Peer Counselors for the Provision of Mental Health Services to the Aged

Abstract
Peer counseling has been developed as a method for addressing many of the psychological problems experienced by the elderly. This paper examines the use of peer counseling in an agency. Specifically, this paper focuses on the agency's preparation for peer counselors, the recruitment and retention of peer counselors, the training of these volunteers, and the services which they can provide to the elderly.
