This is an excellent and comprehensive textbook devoted entirely to the colon, rectum, and anus. It is edited by two well-known authors who collaborated with more than 40 others to produce an impressive work that summarizes the current knowledge of colonic function and disease.The format is traditional. An opening chapter on anatomy is followed by sections on various aspects of physiology, including regulatory peptides, the role of colonic mucus, and the immunology of the colon.
