Abstract
The 195Pt and 31P chemical shifts and the platinum–phosphorus coupling constants have been determined for some platinum hydrides trans-[Pt(PEt3)2HL] where L is a series of anionic ligands. The platinum chemical shifts are interpreted in terms of the variation of the paramagnetic shielding term which arises from changes in the σ- and π-covalency of the metal–ligand (L) bond.
