Abstract
Glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase have been demonstrated in both bovine and human lenses. This has led to the formulation of a new 8-enzyme metabolic pathway for detoxification within the lens of electrophilic compounds and hydroperoxides of both extra- and intralenticular origin. Keywords
