Abstract
Fancy phrases readily capture headlines, and fancy names stick better. The field of medicine is no exception. Confusing and poorly understood syndromes frequently hide behind the names of people who describe them or suffer from them. Occasionally, the diseases acquire mysterious names, and then everybody seems to remember them better. "Histiocytosis X" may serve as a good example. Hematologists also use spectacular terms for some of their cells. Flame cells, a colorful combination of red and blue in secreting plasma cells, or sea-blue histiocytes (if not "buttock cells"), add an artistic touch to hematology and may even stimulate dulled recall . . .Keywords
