Abstract
A 15 square foot spiral plate exchanger was used to obtain temperature-length profiles for each fluid at various flow rates under both parallel and counter-current conditions. A Nusselt number-Reynolds number type film coefficient correlation was obtained by a modified Wilson plot technique. Analytical temperature-length profiles, determined by a modified Runge-Kutta technique, agreed closely with the experimental results. The temperatures determined from the analytical solution were used in the calculation of thermal effectiveness-number of heat transfer unit relationships for the conditions investigated. Keywords
