Abstract
Auditory test results before and after left hemispherectomy were presented in a case of right infantile hemlparesis. Little or no change in motor, speech, or hearing was found pre- and postoperatlvely. Sensitivity for pure tones and speech was normal as well as discrimination for clear speech. Discrimination for low-pass filtered speech was reduced on the ear contralateral to cerebral damage. Loudness balancing showed "derecruitment" in the affected ear. Bekesy tracings were Type I bilaterally.
