Abstract
Thermal mapping with infrared imagery is a very useful test technique in continuous flow wind tunnels. Convective-heating patterns over large areas of a model can be obtained through remote sensing of the surface temperature. A system has been developed at AEDC which uses a commercially available infrared scanning camera to produce these heat-transfer maps. In addition to the camera, the system includes video monitors, an analog tape recording, an analog-to-digital converter, a digitizer control, and two minicomputers. This paper will describe the individual components, data reduction techniques, and typical applications. *Keywords
