Solid—End-Plug Experiment on aPinch

Abstract
Results from the first end-stoppering experiment on a high-energy ( keV, ) pinch are reported. The experiment was done with quartz end plugs. The results show that the insertion of the plugs improves plasma stability, reduces particle end loss out of the device, and improves the energy confinement.
