Abstract
Sets of equivalent local nucleon-nucleon potentials which reproduce the Livermore 1S0 and 1D2 phase shifts almost exactly are introduced. The shape of the 1S0 p-p potentials resolves the discrepancy between previous potential and phase shift descriptions of the interaction but raises further questions about the accuracy of the phase shifts and the nonlocality of the interaction. The 1D2 potential is found to have more flexibility that hitherto suggested. The result for the 1S0 n-p potential is of interest in that the constrained set of phase shift produces a more regular shape than the unconstrained set. Keywords
