The Effects of Glare on the Contrast Sensitivity Function

Abstract
Contrast sensitivity functions (CSFs) were measured under conditions of glare and no glare. The spatial frequencies used were 1.7,2.4,3.00, 11.4, and 18.5 cycles/deg. The CSFs obtained showed greatest sensitivity around 3.00 cycles/deg for both glare and no-glare conditions. Generally, glare reduced sensitivity over all frequencies tested.
