Bilateral complete carotid and basilar artery occlusion in a patient with minimal deficit

Abstract
A patient with complete occlusion of both internal carotid arteries and the basilar artery experienced visual phenomena which were suggestive of episodic bilateral occipital lobe dysfunction and 2 episodes of right hemiparesis. This patient recovered spontaneously and with residual deficit consisting only of mild visual field deficit. The necessity for complete arteriography in patients with cerebrovascular disease is emphasized. The place of conservative therapy in patients with occlu-sive cerebrovascular disease, particularly in patients who are clinically stabilized or who are improving is suggested.
