Abstract
To the Editor: Behan, Behan and Dick1 recently reported an increased frequency of HLA-B8 in 14 adult patients with polymyositis and adduced it as evidence that the adult and childhood forms of polymyositis are variants of the same autoimmune process, since an increased incidence of HLA-B8 has been reported2 in childhood polymyositis. In this report they refer to our study on 37 patients with polymyositis,3 in which an increased frequency of HLA-B14 was reported.
