Abstract
Static magnetization configurations and critical switching curves of exchange-coupled composite thin films are calculated numerically and compared with the results obtained from a previously developed theory which represents the effect of exchange coupling in sufficiently thin composite films in terms of effective multi-axial anisotropies. By dividing the total film thickness into a sufficient number of layers, the magnetic energy of the film is replaced by summation which is a functoin of the orientation of the magnetization in each layer and the extentatinal field. Analysis has been made by means of searching minima of the magnetic energy according to the variational principle. Keywords
