Selectivity for Homologous Series in Reversed Phase Liquid Chromatography. I. Theory

Abstract
The resolution and the peak capacity between successive members of a homologous series are studied with different packings in reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RPLC). Simple equations are derived wihich show that the peak capacity is proportional to the resolution. The resolution can be easily predicted, and the experimental results are in agreement with the calculated ones. Carbon adsorbents are very suitable for the separations in homologous series.
