EFFECT OF AMANTADINE HYDROCHLORIDE ON PARAINFLUENZA TYPE 1 VIRUS INFECTIONS IN ADULT VOLUNTEERS

Abstract
Illness, virus isolation, and serologic response to virus infection were similar for placebo and drug groups. Amantadine concentrations in the sera and nasal secretions of treated male volunteers were less than those required to inhibit growth of parainfluenza viruses in tissue culture.
