Abstract

The sum rule for the on-shell pion-nucleon scattering amplitude at the Cheng-Dashen (CD) point

ν = ν_{B} = 0

has been recalculated. Instead of the value 1.7

μ^{- 1}

as obtained by CD, we find

T (0, 0) ≃ 1.1 μ^{- 1} and 1.3 μ^{- 1}

, when the new and old Lovelace phase shifts are used, respectively.
