Abstract
Uric acid is stored in the tissues of the boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis Boheman, throughout its life cycle, but guanine seemingly is not stored. Apparently no meaningful relationship exists between the total body content of nitrogen and uric acid. However, uric acid appears to be in a dynamic state and is evidently involved in nitrogen metabolism, since uric acid-2-C14 injected into metamorphosing weevils causes labeling of at least 6 of the free amino acids. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
