Abstract
Major advances in hydrometeological studies are likely to await development of more sophisticated equipment than is at present generally available and of data processing techniques adequate to deal with the resultant mass of data. Prototype, simple, battery-operated, automatic hydrometeorological stations, costing £500 complete, have been developed in the U.K.; recording on ¼ in. magnetic tape, they scan 10 channels at 6 min. intervals for 14 days, by which time one track of the tape is fully recorded. A brief description is given of the sensors incoporated and of the data processing and storage proposals. Keywords
