Abstract
A new anion-exchange resin prepared from Rohm and Haas XAD-4 resin is used to isolate and concentrate acidic organic material from aqueous solution. The water is passed through the anion-exchange column in the hydroxide form, then other organics are removed by washing with methyl alcohol and diethyl ether. Finally, the acids are eluted with diethyl ether saturated with hydrogen chloride gas. The effluent is concentrated, treated with diazomethane, and the methyl esters are separated by gas chromatography using a glass capillary column. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
