Abstract
The method of aspiration biopsy cytology began to receive international attention after publications, innovations, and courses originating at the Karalinska Hospital in Sweden. Sixten Franzen, Josef Zajieek, Pier Esposti, and Torsten Lowhagen were prime movers of this clinical and scientific development.
