481 km, 2.5 Gbit/s and 501 km, 622 Mbit/s unrepeateredtransmission using forward error correction and remotelypumped postamplifiers and preamplifiers

Abstract
Using forward error correction, a remotely pumped postamplifier and a remotely pumped preamplifier, error-free unrepeatered transmission on nondispersion-shifted fibre is demonstrated over record distances of 481 km at 2.5 Gbit/s and 501 km at 622 Mbit/s.
