Abstract
The beat wave excitation process is examined analytically in the Eulerian fluid description. The effects of plasma drifts, harmonics, pump rise time, frequency mismatch, phenomenological damping, plasma inhomogeneities, and two dimensions are discussed. The consistency between the Eulerian and Lagrangian fluid descriptions is verified. Keywords
