Abstract
To the Editor: Reversible acquired defects of nitroblue-tetrazolium (NBT) reducing capacity of human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) have been reported.1 2 3 4 Some have suggested that the plasma contents may affect NBT reducing capacity.4 We describe herein an additional case of an abnormal reducing capacity that was apparently caused by a plasma factor or factors.A 58-year-old man with diabetes mellitus entered the Hospital Central Militar in Mexico City on December 17, 1972, with fever of unknown origin. The hemoglobin was 16 g per 100 ml, and the white-cell count 7000, with 79 per cent neutrophils with toxic granulation, 4 per cent band . . .Keywords
