Abstract
A new radiopharmaceutical, merisoprol Hg 197, permits visualization of the spleen with a reliability, speed, and simplicity hitherto impossible with other agents. Forty-two scintiscans performed on 35 patients have proved useful in assessing splenic size, shape, and position, in demonstrating focal abnormalities, and in differentiating left upper abdominal masses. In this group, however, the spleen scan has played its most valuable role as a sensitive method of following splenic response to therapeutic regimens in those patients suffering from disorders of the hematopoietic system. Morbidity incident to spleen scanning with this new agent was nil. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
