Abstract
The magnetospheric‐Ionospheric Coupling (MIC) Conference was held on February 6–8, 1974, at the Ahwahnee Hotel amid the magnificence of Yosemite National Park. The Conference was organized so as to keep the final attendance to a manageable number (less than 100) who were directly involved in the conference topic. By keeping the number of attendees down, we were able to achieve a maximum interchange of ideas. The daily schedule was set up to give a reasonable mixture between the lecture and discussion periods and the recreational and leisure time. This approach was quite successful and created an atmosphere in which the attendees could exchange ideas on both a formal and an informal basis. The Yosemite location furnished the combined benefits of a somewhat secluded spot with the incomparable beauty of the park surroundings. This combination served to keep the spirits of the participants high and contributed significantly to the success of the conference.
