Abstract
• Vascular surgeons have not paid enough attention to all of the host factors responsible for the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. With a clearer understanding of the role of platelets and endothelial cells, improved results and better long-term palliation can be realized by combining newer pharmacologic approaches with well-established surgical procedures. Prostaglandin chemistry research may provide promising therapeutic adjuncts to current techniques for managing atherosclerosis. (Arch Surg 1983;118:1019-1023)Keywords
