Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 29-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of an infected lesion on the right leg.The patient was the product of a consanguineous marriage. A cardiac murmur and hepatic enlargement had been detected at four months of age; at the age of six years a liver biopsy revealed cirrhosis. Intermittent peripheral edema and ascites had been present for 18 months before admission, and spironolactone and hydrochlorothiazide were prescribed. An upper gastrointestinal series eight months before entry showed no esophageal varices.
