Abstract
The cross-Cannizzaro reaction of m-phenoxybenzaldehyde and m-bromobenzaldehyde with aqueous formaldehyde in a two-phase system can be intensified and made more selective by using hydrotropes; cationic surfactants do not improve selectivity. Keywords
