Abstract
Summary The measurement of avidity (functional affinity) of specific IgG antibodies by recently developed simple techniques provides a sensitive and highly specific serodiagnosis for various infectious diseases. Obtained in a single serum sample, the IgG-avidity result may be used for rapid assessment of the accurate time point of primary infection, or can distinguish primary from secondary (recurrent or reactivated) infections. Keywords
