Nitrous Oxide Decreases Motility of Human Neutrophils In Vitro

Abstract
The effect of 80% N2O on motility of human neutrophils obtained from 6 volunteers was studied in vitro. In every case, random migration through the pores of 3 .mu.m-millipore filter paper was reduced (mean value 16%). Chemotaxis toward casein was also reduced in every case (mean value 22%). Mean rates of migration increased following exposure to 2% halothane.
