Abstract
We have determined the surface geometry of Ni(110) using dynamical low-energy electron diffraction (LEED). We find multilayer relaxation on this surface, with a (9.8±1.8)% contraction in the first interlayer spacing and a (3.8±1.8)% expansion in the second interlayer spacing. Our analysis also explains why previous LEED works yielded conflicting results. Keywords
