Abstract
Photometric observations on the uυbyβ system are presented for 572 O–F stars within ∼ 20° of the South Galactic Pole. The interstellar extinction near the pole is found to be zero out to 400 pc from the Sun, in agreement with the H I maps of Burstein & Heiles. Several evolved and Population II objects are identified. Keywords
