Abstract
Four constants derived by fitting equations to learning and performance data are shown to measure important aspects of learning and transfer. The constants are asymptotic level, beginning level, a rate constant, and the point of inflection of learning curves having both positive and negative acceleration. Patterns of values for the constants are stressed as bases for interpreting effects of training variables and prior preparation on learning new skills. Keywords
