CUSHING'S SYNDROME AND THE GUILLAIN-BARRÉ SYNDROME

Abstract
In recent years the Guillain-Barre syndrome has been considered an allergic manifestation. ACTH and adrenal cortical steroids have been recommended as specific therapy. A case of coexistent Cushing''s syndrome and Guillain-Barre syndrome is reported and three other cases cited. The paradox of the endogenous adrenal cortical hyperfunction and coexistent Guillain-Barre syndrome is discussed. The variability of the course of the neurological disorder and its obscure etiology make evaluation of a therapeutic agent difficult.
