Thyristor-controlled in-phase boosting for h.v. d.c. convertors

Abstract
An alternative scheme to the conventional h.v. d.c. rectifier station is proposed. The transformer on-load tap-changer and convertor controls are replaced by a thyristor-controlled regulating transformer, the rectifier bridges consisting of pure diodes. Fast and continuous voltage control is achieved with improved displacement factor and reduced harmonic content.
