Abstract
The presence of a nonhemorragic cystic cavity in a meningioma is a rare event. It has different pathogenetic mechanisms. It can sometimes be the result of wide necrotic area as it is frequently observed in meningoblasomas with extensive vascular developments. In patients the cystic cavity seems to be the result of a particular vacuolar and myxomatous degeneration of neoplastic tissue. Cystic meningiomas are similar to formehumide meningioma of Masson.
