Detection of Myocardial Infarction by in vivo Scanning

Abstract
A new group of hydromercury derivatives of fluoresceln with selective uptake in experimentally produced myocardial infarcts was developed. Two substances of this group, Mercurascan-203 and Brommercurascan-203, were compared with neo-hydrln. Both were superior to neohydrin, since they accumulate to a great extent in damaged areas, and less in blood and surrounding myocardium. In all cases, the presence of ischemia was demonstrated by in vivo scanning within a few hours after administration of the indicators; results were negative with the same radioactive dose of neohydrin.
