Abstract
The absolute differential elastic scattering cross section of deuterium for 25.7-MeV protons was measured for laboratory scattering angles from 15° to 165°. A solid-state lithium-drifted silicon detector was used with a 1024-channel pulse-height analyzer to identify the scattered protons and recoil deuterons. A sealed deuterium gas target with thin windows was used. The data have been corrected for nuclear reactions in the detector. The absolute accuracy of the cross-section measurement is estimated to be 4%.Keywords
